This is my white stone for 2019. If you’re not familiar with the tradition, it involves taking some time at the beginning of the year and meditating on the coming year ahead. Allow a word or phrase to come to you, something that sparks joy, or thought, or challenges you a bit. Let this be your intention for the year. Many people like to write that word or phrase on a white stone to remind them of this intention throughout the year.
My word for the year is Freedom. I decided to bling it up a little with gel pens, which is totally unnecessary and a bit over the top, but artists are gonna do what artists are gonna do. 🙂
I’m still figuring out what this word means to me. Right now, I’m in the land of Nelson Mandela, and I’m reminded of the title of his autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom. The children born here since Mandela’s presidency are referred to as the “Born Free” generation.
Closer to home, freedom represents freedom of expression–in creativity, in speaking my truth. Freedom represents the ability to love freely and lavishly. This includes myself, an entry that usually gets left off my lists.
I’m sure as we go through the year, I will continue to expand my work with this concept and more fully inhabit the concept of freedom. I am looking forward to it.
How about you? What word showed up for you on your white stone this year?
